The Field Museum

Description:
In partnership with the Field Musem’s Learning Center we are in the process of creating digital learning
resources that will assist educators in teaching several disciplinary core ideas of science such as
biogeology, plate tectonics, and evidence of common ancestry and diversity of life on Earth.
Leveraging the vast collection of the museum and its state-of-art earth history experiences, Field
Museum wishes to create a collection of illustrative 3D models of notable prehistoric specimens
from Field Museum’s extensive Silurian Reef fossil invertebrate collection. The Silurian Reef refers
to the environment of the Chicago-Milwaukee region 430 million years ago when I shallow sea
covered the land and what is currently known as the North American tectonic plate was south of
the equator.
